Flexible Art

The last couple of days, I've been adding a coat of paint- finishing touches, really, to the gallery walls here at Norton's Cove Studio. It's nice to rearrange the artwork after adding or subtracting pieces from the gallery walls, so when I got home from the Craft Fair, I thought it was a good time to get things put in order as I unpack.
This large piece (below), titled (School of) Smudge Herring, consists of 12 paintings in which the herring swim from one piece to another, in a grid like a net. While I love seeing them all together here, they are each for sale individually; fish enthusiasts can buy just one, or a series of 2 or 3 or whatever fits their space & budget. Thanks to Art Cansel for having the perfect frames, and to Duke for helping me to hang them so beautifully.

Because this piece takes up so much room, I wanted to try something I've been thinking about for a while on a smaller wall- I am thrilled with the way a grid of paintings like UNDERNEATH No. 2 can be hung in a corner, bending into the space!
I would love to have lots of large walls to show my work in the studio, but I am limited, and so I'll be filling in all the rest of the white space in the room with the rest of my stock of framed prints and paintings, and some Norton's Cove Knots too.
I'll be doing lots of organizing, rearranging, and counting inventory as I get ready for the Christmas break, so that I'm ready and rearing to go at the beginning of the coming new year. I've got lots of plans for new art projects over the winter!
