Brookfield

By the time this photograph was taken, Norton's Cove was known as Brookfield. The house still had its servants quarters attached, with an altered roof-line, and the shop was pretty much as we see it today. The little building at the right of the photo was apparently a telegraph office and/or post office. The truck, I've been told, belonged to Baxter Kean.
What stands out in this photo to you? I notice how different the land looks, the tiny road, the fenced garden and willow tree, and the barrel in the back of the truck. There were very few vehicles on the road at that time, and I've heard stories from visitors saying that they would row/sail into Brookfield, and get a ride to Brookfield Hospital in Baxter's truck. I imagine that truck ride would have been loud, bumpy, bouncy, and muddy.
