BBARS Art & Science Residency

Janet Davis

Today I visited a little house/museum/gift shop here in Norris Point called Jenniex Heritage House.  It sits atop the hill at the beginning of the trail I walked yesterday, and so I went back today during open hours to have a look inside.

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I have about a dozen pairs of reading glasses.  I brought three pairs with me, thinking that would do.  But today, while I was looking about Jenniex Heritage House, one pair of glasses was in my apron pocket in the lab, one pair was left at my mat hooking station, and one pair in my room back at BBARS.  Mom always told me I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached to my shoulders.  She's not wrong.  So I'll be going back to do some reading tomorrow.

When you visit lots of small community museums, you tend to find very similar items in each.  But every museum has some particular pieces that stand out as rare finds, or something to make you wonder what they were used for.  I love looking for those special pieces.  Today, I found the inspiration I needed for the 2025 Norton's Cove Christmas Card, and a couple of fine examples of hooked mats on the floor of the bedrooms.  And MTD, if you're reading, can you pick out Fozzy in the collage?  You never know where a Muppet might show up!

And a special thank you to J who made a really wonderful soup for supper!
