Visual Artist/Post Office Assistant

Visual Artist/Post Office Assistant

Janet Davis

It's hard to believe it's June already!  I've been so busy that the winter flew by, and spring is doing the same.  Fast!

I have a little news to share with you- while it doesn't really relate to my studio practice, it does affect it.  I have accepted a permanent part-time position with Canada Post at the Badger's Quay Post Office, which means that I'll be working there every morning, Monday to Saturday, until I'm ready to retire, I guess.  With only 15 hours a week, I'll get benefits that most artists only dream about, and I really do enjoy the job.  The position starts on June the 15th.

How that affects my studio practice: I'll be working at the studio in the afternoons and evenings only.  So my hours of operation will certainly change.  I usually post official shop hours during the summer, but this year I think I'll keep the 'by chance or appointment' hours going year-round.  I'm getting too old to say no to all the joys of summer, and want to make time for boating and hiking and gardening on the good weather days, while keeping to the studio on days when it's too rainy, or too hot, too mosquitoey, etc.

As always, if you're planning a trip to the area and you don't want to miss out on a visit to our shop, reach out to me and I'll make sure we're open while you're here!  One of my favourite parts of owning Norton's Cove Studio is meeting and chatting with people from the world over.
