Throwback to 1998

26 years ago, my shop went by a different name, dory buff

I started the consignment based retail shop in 1997 while I was home from university for the summer.

We carried folk art paintings by Gordon Knee and Charlie Hann, hand-knit mittens and socks by Geraldine Vincent, children's clothes by Lynette Moulton, knitwear by Violet Vincent, felted cardigans by Ronalda Steele, sea urchin Christmas ornaments by Joan Gill, my own student quality artwork and hand-made paper, purity candies, and other goodies all made right here in Newfoundland.

I loved (still do!) meeting people from all over the world in my little shop.  dory buff continued until I was ready to remake the building into Norton's Cove Studio in 2002.

Did you visit dory buff?  What are your memories of it?

Thanks Janis!

What a great story! I can’t imagine having a shop like that as a student and all made in Newfoundland too.
