Cod Sweet Cod

This is a painting of mine from a few years back.  

Have you ever said a thing and not known why?  Or liked a phrase that doesn't make particular sense?  Akin to the phrase 'home sweet home', I came up with 'cod sweet cod', because to me, salt cod is so iconic of Newfoundland history.  It's what lured my ancestors to make huge life changing decisions, leaving England for the sparsely populated shores of northeast Newfoundland.  I love where I live, and I thank my ancestors for the sacrifices they made to build a new life here.
