Tea for Two
Janet DavisSome of you might be thinking, "more teacups? Good grief Janet, again?!
But for those of you who don't know much about my past artworks, I've been making tea-related images on and off since 1997. That has included my graduate exhibit (NSCAD'98) entitled teastory, various Norton's Cove Cards, Mini-Prints, and bookmarks, and the Hermit Cove Cups series.

Etching on tea-stained (intact) tea-bags, 1997-98

Etching on tea-stained tea-bag, hand embroidered, 1997-98.

For Uncle Percy: 625 Silk screened cups on tea-stained cheesecloth, hand-pieced & quilted, with random cup images hand embroidered. Cotton batting, polyester, rayon, and metallic threads. 1998. In the permanent collection held by The Rooms.
This new open edition original piece of art is a linocut printed with a prussian blue-burnt umber rainbow roll, then watercoloured with pink and peach flowers, green leaves, and gold trims on the cups. I had been asked to reintroduce the old tea-for-two bookmark, but made this instead. I thought I might also get a bookmark out of this printing plate, but no— that'll have to wait for a little bit longer. Whoops!
I'm quite pleased with these little cups of cheer, and I'd love to hear your feedback too!
