Happpy Saint Paddy's Day!

Janet Davis

While I am 0% Irish descent according to a recent DNA test, and most people from my hometown share my mostly English heritage, there is much of Newfoundland that was populated by Irish immigrants in the 1700s, and St. Patrick's Day is recognized as a Provincial Holiday today.

This design was made especially for a friend of mine who is a 1st generation Newfoundlander, and whose dad came across from Ireland rather late in the game, 200 years or so later!

The shamrock, a three leaf clover, is a widely recognized symbol of Irish culture and history because of its association with Saint Patrick, who supposedly used them as a teacher's aid in explaining the holy trinity, bringing Christianity to Ireland.  ☘️
