Today was pretty exciting!
I woke up from a good solid sleep, drank a large coffee, and headed up that same trail again, which again got my heart pumping- so many stairs! All these hills and mountains are beautiful, but walking in upwards and then downwards directions takes some getting used to! Soon I was back to work some more on my Silver Darlings project.
And then it was time to meet Summer, who would be setting up the theatre for our Artist Talks at 2pm. I jumped at the chance to go first, so that my nervous system didn't have the opportunity to get riled up, and then could really focus on the other two artist presentations too. It went very smoothly, I think, and was facinated by Julie's & Tanja's talks. They are both incredibly inciteful and intellegent artists making a difference in the world and how we think. I love hearing about what other artists are thinking about when they plan their pieces, and it's something that I miss out on by living somewhere where art is not appreciated and supported very well. (That is being worked on in the background!)
It was nice to see a good crowd show up for the talks. Thank you to everyone who showed up, listened, and asked questions!
And as all the afternoon chats were cluing up, I was handed a real freshly thawed herring to use as a drawing model. (Thank you B!) Such a beautiful fish! Professor Bob gave me a quick lowdown on how the fish might move their fins while swimming, and gave me some tools to hold the fish in place so that I can get drawings and photos of it while it's still fresh.
I started a small painting of that single herring, made reference photos, started cutting out some templates to use in the large panelled painting, and got some ideas of what to so with this drawing model tomorrow too.
And here it is, time for a call with my sweetheart and then off to bed.
Goodnight, and I'll talk to you tomorrow!
